Before we break down the basic steps, let's see why it's important to treat the two skincare routines (pre- and post-workout) as two different situations.1. Protect and keep your makeup low-profile for "pre-workout"
The only reason to wear makeup at the gym is if you want to impress someone! Otherwise… it’s best to avoid it. 1. Cleaning that works!
We all know how important it is to cleanse our skin properly. Cleansing not only removes makeup at the end of the day, refreshes us in the morning, but also removes sweat and dust at the end of our day.
• Before exercising: Before you hit the gym, make sure you've cleansed your skin properly. Don't opt for a deep cleanse, but a gentle cleanse with a foaming cleanser to remove any makeup residue that may be left behind before you start sweating and trapping sweat in your pores.
• After exercise: The first thing you need to do after exercising is to remove sweat, dust and dirt from your skin. Don't let sweat stay on your face for too long as it will get trapped in your skin pores and cause pimples and irritation!

2. What you need is a toning lotion!
Toning lotion has become an essential step in a proper skincare routine. But the question is, when do we know it's working? Toning lotion can be used at any time of the day, before or after exercise. It can be used as a step to prepare the skin for what it receives throughout the exercise, to keep it clean, but more specifically:
• Before the gym: Prepares the skin for the heat of the gym. Here you need a gentle hydrating toner to keep your skin hydrated no matter how hot it gets. Apply the toner with a soft cotton pad to provide a good level of hydration.
